re:Route Support Group ready to launch!

We're really proud to announce that Mind in Harrow Trustee Sonam Patel is due to start a brand new support for young members of the South Asian Community who are struggling with their mental health and would like to discuss their experiences with peers.

re:Route is aimed at young people aged 18-35 of a South Asian background. The aim is to talk, listen, gain knowledge from the experience of one another as well as increasing awareness regarding the issues surrounding and tackling the subject of mental health within the culture. Whilst traditionally the subject of mental health has remained heavily stigmatised in the South Asian culture, there is now an effort to have more conversations on the topic; groups like re:Route are designed to provide an outlet for this conversation and as such are key to changing attitudes towards mental illness.

If you or a loved one are looking for peer to peer support and the chance to meet others who understand the pressures within the community then please do come along. There are many interesting guest speakers lined up, so watch this space!

Group founder Sonam hopes the group will help with her own struggles with anxiety by being able to share her experiences in a safe and especially non-judgemental environment she says, "I love my culture and identity but have always felt extremely judged over every each thing, I can understand why this feeling would stop someone from opening up; as I feel the same myself."

First session is running on Saturday 2nd June at St Paul’s Church , South Harrow from 3.30pm - 5.30pm.
