Mind Media Awards 2018 - Mind in Harrow CEO presents award!

Mark Gillham, Chief Executive of Mind in Harrow, was invited to present the Journalist of the Year Award at the Mind Media Awards 2018 with fellow local Mind Chief Executive Richard Pacitti Croydon Mind. Both have worked for local Minds for over 20 years.

The Awards ceremony was held at the Queen Elizabeth's Hall on London's South Bank on 29 November.  Awards were also given by Mind Ambassadors Dame Kelly Holmes, Alistair Campbell and Fearne Cotton and other celebrities such as the Loose Women presenters.

Mark and Richard were introduced by national Mind President Stephen Fry. In his introduction talk, Mark said:

Journalists have a vitally important role to shine a light in injustices, uncover abuse and challenge those responsible. As we helped shortlist the 45 entries, we were impressed how many more journalists have taken up this cause. As well as drawing on their lived experiences, they are reaching new audiences, in particular young people, on all sorts of media.

Mark was honoured to present the Journalist of the Year 2018 Award to Hannah Jane Parkinson for the honest and powerful article in the Guardian about the reality of being a mental health inpatient.
