On Your Side - Peer Advocacy

Contact:  On Your Side Co-ordinator

Tel: 020 8426 0929 | Email: [email protected]

On Your Side is a new service offering specialist mental health advocacy and information to help people overcome problems with welfare benefits or mental health services.

On Your Side was developed and launched by Mind in Harrow from September 2019 to offer peer advocacy/information to help Harrow residents navigate their way through the local welfare benefits and mental health systems.

The project aims to support people experiencing barriers to access the right support at the right time.

In Harrow, there is currently no mental health community advocacy service and little support for people going through PIP/ESA/Universal Credit assessments. This project aims to fill some of the gap in support in Harrow by offering this new service.

On Your Side is offered by trained and supervised volunteers with their own lived experience of mental health services. Volunteers will be allocated to you based on your individual needs and preferences.

Our volunteers can support you in the following ways:

Understand what your rights are.

Look at information about how different processes work e.g. welfare benefits, health or social services.

Accompany you and support you to attend medical and welfare benefit appointments.

Help you to tell people what you want.

What On Your Side can’t offer:
