“I am proud to be affiliated with an organisation that walks the talk.”
Trainer & Mental Health Champion
I started my journey with Mind in Harrow in 2018, when I joined the ‘Head for Work’ project and trained to become a Mental Health Trainer.
With the support of excellent, empathic and skilled staff, I was empowered to carve out my own path, at my own pace; everything fell into place, organically: I discovered how I could use my existing skills, knowledge, and considerable work and personal experience, to be an agent of change.
I began delivering mental health awareness training at different organisations, thinking that I was challenging mental ill health stigma. What I didn’t realise was that the process would challenge me to shine a light on my own self-stigmatisation.
This process of self- inquiry challenged my social conditioning as a woman of South Asian descent, and led me to train as a Harrow User Group Representative. I have now presented at various Safeguarding conferences, and am representing on the Harrow Integrated Care Task and Finish Group, giving a voice to service users.
I am currently employed by Mind in Harrow as a Training Officer, assisting Harrow residents and key workers to face the challenges presented by COVID19.
I am proud to be affiliated with an organisation that walks the talk.
