Volunteer Training Day 2

04/11/2025, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Build confidence with real-world scenarios and get ready to volunteer.

Date & time: Tuesday 4 November 2025, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Location: Mind in Harrow, 132–134 College Road, Harrow, HA1 1BQ

Volunteer Training Day 2 turns learning into practice. We begin with a short recap from Day 1, then move into supportive, real-world scenarios that help you build confidence. You’ll practise active listening, de-escalation, and boundary-setting in everyday situations you might encounter as a volunteer—always guided by staff and always at your pace.

Next, we walk through what volunteering looks like across our services. You’ll hear project briefings for Diya (South Asian peer support), Hayaan (Somali community support), Stepping Stones (wellbeing activities), Mental Health Champions and fundraising. We’ll explain typical volunteer tasks, where sessions happen, how teams work together, and how to log support safely and respectfully.

We also cover practicalities. You’ll learn how to record information securely, how referrals and signposting work, and what to do if you’re worried about someone’s safety. We outline supervision, support, and ongoing training—so you know where to turn for advice. Finally, we share onboarding steps, including any checks and forms, plus how we match volunteers to roles that suit their skills, interests, and availability.

Day 2 is an interactive session, encouraging questions and reflection. By the end of the session, you’ll understand your role, know the support available to you, and feel ready to start. Please note that attendance on both days (November 3 & 4) is required to complete the training.
