Kick-start your journey as a Mental Health Volunteer in Harrow.
Date & time: Monday 3 November 2025, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Location: Mind in Harrow, 132–134 College Road, Harrow, HA1 1BQ
Begin your volunteering journey with a friendly, practical induction at Mind in Harrow. Volunteer Training Day 1 introduces our values, the way we work, and the impact volunteers make across projects such as Diya, Hayaan, Stepping Stones, Mental Health Champions and fundraising. You’ll meet the team, connect with other new volunteers, and learn how mental health volunteering supports people in our community.
Across the day, we cover the essentials. You’ll explore active listening, empathy, and clear communication. We’ll discuss professional boundaries, confidentiality, and safeguarding so you know how to keep yourself and others safe. You’ll hear how we use a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive approach, and how equality, diversity and inclusion shape every interaction. We also introduce signposting and referral pathways, so you can confidently connect people with the right support at the right time.
The session is interactive but relaxed. Short group activities help you build confidence without pressure. There’s time for questions and space to reflect on your strengths. No previous experience is required—just curiosity, reliability, and a commitment to helping others. Volunteers must be 18+.
Please note: you need to attend both Day 1 (3 Nov) and Day 2 (4 Nov) to complete training and join our volunteer community. Places are limited, so early booking is recommended.
