Evidence shows that living with meaning and being connected and engaged in relationships and interests is essential to mental and physical well-being. One of our main goals at Mind in Harrow is to counter the isolation that is too often experienced by our clients. Without the invaluable contributions of our volunteers, in our various projects, we would not be able to provide the range of high quality services that support individuals at each step of their journey toward wellness and recovery and also make a difference to the community as a whole.

Why volunteer at Mind in Harrow?

There are many reasons why people choose to volunteer at Mind in Harrow, for example:

  • You may have personally experienced mental health difficulties, or have a family member or close friend who has, and therefore feel you have an understanding that would enable you to support others through their distress and isolation.
  • You may wish to use it as a valuable stepping stone back into the world of employment.
  • You may wish to gain experience and knowledge if you are considering, or on the way to pursuing a career in mental health or health and social care.
  • You may have some extra time on your hands and would like to offer support in the community or a listening ear to others.

These are just a few of the numerous possible motivations for giving a few hours of your time per week to one of our projects.

I have really enjoyed the one to one rapport of befriending and have gained intellectual conversation and chance to explore interesting subjects with my befriending client. Always a pleasure to meet.

We are committed to valuing diversity in relation to the recruitment, selection and involvement of volunteers. We see each individual as having the potential to make a unique contribution and we welcome and value this diversity. Depending on your interests and skills, we can make sure that you find the right volunteering opportunity to suit you. We are committed to making your volunteering experience at Mind in Harrow a rewarding and productive one.
