What is User Involvement?

This when you are at the heart of assessing how good or bad services are then deciding how to make improvements. You can have a real say in how YOUR services are managed.

How can I be involved?

You can become a member of the Harrow User Group (HUG) Benefits include:

  • A free Quarterly Newsletter with up to date news and reviews about mental health issues.
  • Invitations to monthly meetings with Guest Speakers.
  • Invites to Quarterly Forums where you will have the chance to tell Senior Managers your concerns.

The next HUG forum will take place on Monday 27th November, 12.30pm-3.45pm, at Harrow Arts Centre. Download the HUG forum flyer for more information or get in contact via the details above.

Become a HUG Representative (Rep)

If I become a Rep what would I be doing?

You would help review different Mental Health Services within a small working group. Each working group consists of a mixture of Workers, Users and Senior Managers. Each person's voice has an equal weight.

How much time will it take?

It's up to you. When you join the Harrow User Group, you can choose just to receive the benefits or become a more active member as a Rep.

But I don't have the skills or confidence to be a involved as a Rep.

Mind in Harrow will provide full training and support if you consider being an active member.

What else is in it for me if I choose to be a Rep?

  • A fee of 18 is paid for each session you attend.
  • You will have valuable input into planning and review of the Mental Health Services in Harrow.

What does HUG Rep training involve?

This three day course for mental health service users who want to get involved in HUG's activities will include:

  • Confidence and assertiveness training
  • Negotiation skills for life
  • Making friends and meeting people!

To take part, we ask that you are:

  • a resident of Harrow or have a GP in Harrow

  • a user of Harrow mental health services – either CNWL or GP
