Mental Health Information & Advocacy Coordinator

28 hours per week

Scale point 29, £30,010pa pro rata (£24,008pa actual)
plus 4% employer pension

Do you have significant experience of working with mental health service users and delivering a mental health information or advocacy service?  Do you have a creative approach to supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged adults and a track record of collaborating with diverse communities and stakeholders?  Do you enjoy managing and developing volunteers and supporting others to deliver excellence in service?  This post offers an exciting opportunity lead on the coordination of Mind in Harrow’s established mental health helpline & information service and its peer advocacy project.

Mind in Harrow works in partnership with other local charities to deliver the Support & Wellbeing Information Service Harrow (SWISH), providing timely and person-centred support in accordance with the Care Act Information & Advice requirements.  Mind in Harrow has also recently been awarded grant funding to develop its pioneering On Your Side peer advocacy project, enhancing the tailored support around navigating the welfare and mental health systems that we are able to offer through casework.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to coordinate delivery of  Mind in Harrow’s SWISH and On Your Side services, and promote wellbeing and prevention to Harrow residents experiencing mental health problems and their carers.

The successful applicant will have experience of working in mental health and information services, will have a good understanding of volunteer management, safeguarding principles, working with diverse communities, and Care Act 2014 requirements for information & carers, and will have excellent partnership working skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences.

You will be required to apply for an enhanced DBS check and be committed to promoting equality and challenging discrimination in all aspects of your work.
