About Us

History
Mind in Harrow is a mental health organisation started in the 1960's and has expanded to provide a range of services. We currently employ a team of 20 staff and have the support of 60 volunteers. We are an independent charity affiliated to National Mind and are part of a network of 200 Local Mind Associations across the country.

Our Mission – Why we exist

Mission & Values

Mind in Harrow is affiliated to National Mind, the leading mental health charity. Here in Harrow we support people who experience emotional distress through

· providing the highest quality services,

· campaigning to improve services, education to challenge stigma,

· and ensuring the views of those with mental health difficulties are heard and acted upon by decision makers.

Mind in Harrow Commitment to Quality

Mind in Harrow is committed to providing the highest quality community mental health services, which anticipate, meet and exceed the expectations of service users, workers and other stakeholders. As a Local Mind Association (LMA), the quality of our services are assured through Quality Management in Mind (QMiM) standards, assessment and continuous improvement plans.

We want our development to be driven by the needs and experiences of mental health service users and are active supporters of the Harrow User Group.

We are committed to reflecting the diversity of Harrow's communities in all our activities.

Mind in Harrow underwent its external quality review assessment in 2010. We were awarded Level 2 (out of 3 levels) and were awarded the Charity Commission Charity Endorsement kite mark. The assessment panel scored us 98% for Level 1 and 90% for Level 2. “Mind in Harrow’s commitment to the embedding of Quality within their organisation has resulted in a successful submission to QMiM. This is indicative of the sound planning and strategic development which has led to the successful delivery of a diverse range of services.”

How we make a difference

In April 2008, we were delighted to launch the

Mind in Harrow Strategic Plan 2008-11

The plan explains our ambitious vision for the organisation in three years, including a potential new Mind centre, expanded opportunities for people to reduce their social isolation and take steps towards employment, improved availability of information on mental health and more counselling services.
