About Us
History
Mind in Harrow is a mental health organisation started in the 1960's and has expanded to provide a range of services. We currently employ a team of 20 staff and have the support of 60 volunteers. We are an independent charity affiliated to National Mind and are part of a network of 200 Local Mind Associations across the country.
Our Mission – Why we exist
Mind in Harrow works for a better quality of life for people in Harrow experiencing mental distress.
- We believe in promoting a positive vision of mental health, focussing on the strengths and potential of every individual to lead a full life.
- We want to challenge the stigma and discrimination that surrounds mental illness.
- We want our development to be driven by the needs and experiences of mental health service users and are active supporters of the Harrow User Group.
- We are committed to reflecting the diversity of Harrow's communities in all our activities.

How we make a difference
In April 2008, we were delighted to launch the
Mind in Harrow Strategic Plan 2008-11
The plan explains our ambitious vision for the organisation in three years, including a potential new Mind centre, expanded opportunities for people to reduce their social isolation and take steps towards employment, improved availability of information on mental health and more counselling services.
